Investigation Frequency of Myofascial Pain (trigger point induced pain) as the primary diagnosis.
283 consecutive admissions at a comprehensive pain center. 85%
296 patients referred to dental clinic for chronic head and neck pain of at least 6 months duration. 55% (21% had a priomary diagnosis of disease of the temporomandibular joint).
61 consecutive patients at an internal medicine group practice for all causes 10% (31% of those presenting with a pain complaint)
